Job Description

MMP Consultancy are looking for a Service Charge Officer to join a fantastic Housing Association based in East London.

Duties:
* Carry out an audit of every scheme validating the services residents benefit from against service chargeable cost headings and costs applied within the system
* Document the results of the audit in the service register against each scheme / property creating a true and accurate master record of services each property benefits.
* Review lease provisions to ensure service costs are permitted under the lease and the costs are appointed correctly
* Prepare service charge schedules for each property including service charge estimates and final accounts
* Process adjustments to service charges in respect of variable charges
* Lead on production and distribution of service charge related correspondence to the residents
* charge queries from residents and other stakeholders
* Be involved in the process of setting up service charges for new schemes
* Liaise with the auditors on the inspection of service charge accounts
* Produce quarterly management accounts for service-chargeable cost elements to enable early detection of errors and monitoring service charge expenditure on an ongoing basis
* Process weekly rent debit including changes to tenancy/unit details
* Post and deal with rent receipts, adjustments, write offs/ins and rent/housing benefit refunds.
* Process the annual direct debits increases based on the annual rent increases.
* Reconcile rent control accounts

Experience Required:
* Experience of calculating rents and setting service charges within a Social Housing environment
* Sound knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements around Rent and Service Charges
* Experience of using a service charge and/or finance system
* Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle

MMP Consultancy are looking to recruit a Resident Liaison Officer to work for a National Contractor on an Permanent Basis, in Oldbury.


We are looking for an enthusiastic professional to play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of works programmes. Working closely with Contract Managers you will assist in resident consultation and involvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend Resident Surgeries and assist vulnerable people reporting repairs, keep residents and scheme managers up to date on progress
  • Organise consultation events and attend meetings as required
  • Identify vulnerabilities relating to individual residents and liaise with client's housing officers or support services where necessary.
  • Work with the Performance Team to ensure and identified vulnerabilities are accurately recorded within the organisations systems.
  • Investigate, register all complaints and report in accordance with company and client procedures. Ensure all MP, Councillor enquiries and complaints are investigated and resolved efficiently and within target and advising residents and clients of their outcomes

Ideal Candidate:

  • Present previous experience of working within Social Housing or Local Authority
  • Resident Liaison/Community Engagement capacity
  • Experience of handling challenging and complex situations
  • An effective communicator at all levels, you will be able to work proactively and independently to deliver on tight timescales

About the Role:
Our client, a leading Housing Association, is seeking an experienced Service Charge Officer to join their team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate service charge administration while delivering excellent customer service to residents. The position will begin with two weeks of office-based training, after which the successful candidate will only be required to work from the office once a month (either Borehamwood or Camden).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage queries related to service charge estimates and actuals, including:
  • Providing detailed explanations for specific services.
  • Resolving disputes regarding the cost of services provided.
  • Correcting resident charges where errors are identified.
  • Providing documentation related to service charges (e.g., Section 21 & 22 requests, invoices, Section 20 consultation documents).
  • Respond to internal queries from other teams via the team inbox.
  • Verify resident charges for teams working on Housing Benefit and customer payments.
  • Draft and distribute service charge information to residents as directed by other teams.
  • Interact directly with residents and internal teams via phone, email, and the team inbox.
  • Ensure professional and clear communication when discussing financial information or resolving disputes.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of resident charges, identifying and addressing potential errors (e.g., unusual increases or inconsistencies in invoices).
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records within the organisation's internal system.


Skills and Experience:

  • Strong numeracy skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in customer service, including handling complex queries and resolving disputes.
  • Experience with service charge processes or similar financial administration roles.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics (training will be provided).
  • Previous experience working within housing associations or property management.

Duties:

Liaise with customers, arrange appointments, maintain relevant up to date progress on work being undertaken and dispatch information on completion of work
