Job Description

MMP Consultancy is seeking Registered Building Inspectors (from 2F upwards) to join one of our client's growing teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced inspectors to work on a variety of exciting residential and commercial projects across the North of England.

Candidates from areas such as Hull, Yorkshire, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, or Nottingham will be considered to cover an area geographically suitable for them. These are permanent positions with salaries based on candidates' level of experience and level of membership with the Building Control Register.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessing submitted plans and building notices for compliance with Building Regulations 2010 and related legislation.
  • Conducting site inspections on works in progress, ensuring regulatory adherence.
  • Maintaining accurate records using the client's digital systems.
  • Engaging with owners, architects, agents, builders, and the public to negotiate solutions.
  • Enforcing Building Regulations and managing dangerous structures, including demolition control.
  • Promoting customer care and representing the client in a professional manner.
  • Staying up to date with changes in legislation and best practices in building control.
  • Collaborating with team members, delivering excellence in customer service and continuous improvement.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be a Level 2F Building Control Service Inspector in accordance with BICoF standards.
  • Experience in handling building control applications and enforcement, preparing court statements, and acting as an expert witness.
  • Ability to work independently, plan personal workload, and make critical decisions on site.
  • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and across varying weather conditions. A valid driving license is essential.
  • You will work both on-site and in the office, often independently
  • Experience in both residential/domestic and commercial sectors
  • Based in or willing to travel across Hull, Yorkshire, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, or Nottingham.

    • Surveying or building experience preferably with some knowledge of the principles of Fire Safety in Purpose built blocks of flats.
    • Knowledge of BS 9999, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) 2005 and PAS 79.
    • Knowledge of contract law, statutory regulations, guidelines, British standards and their implementation in relation to refurbishment and maintenance contracts.
    • Ability to supervise and support a team of staff and contractors.
    • Ability to plan and manage work to implement programmes and meet targets set by the Team Manager.

    Experience Required:

    • Qualified fire risk assessor
    • Need to be a member of IFE
    • Experience of working with complex social housing tenanted blocks
    • Willing to work with current team members and work with them to mentor them and share their experience
    • Expected to input on current FRA template and make improvements where necessary and work on improving processes/policies
    • Training will be provided as a minimum requirement to carry out fire risk assessments.

    Title: M&E Manager
    Location: Essex
    Rate: £450 - £500 PD

    Role Overview:

    To provide expertise and lead in the operational management of compliance control, information maintenance and monitoring with regard to the servicing, inspection and follow up regimes of remedial works across all statutory and non-statutory compliance work- streams within remit, liaising with the Performance team to ensure up to date adherence is understood at all times.

    To work effectively and collaboratively across all external stakeholders to ensure statutory and non-statutory obligations, planned works contract delivery and associated consequential remedial works, inclusive of building and engineering disciplines, are being met and ensure safe running of associated asset related life safety systems and equipment.

    To manage the M&E Engineer and maintain working relationships with the senior management team and operational delivery teams to promote confidence in the agreed assurance mechanisms and raise the level of awareness and understanding of statutory compliance within our clients homes.

    Key Deliverables

    1.Ensure that all relevant compliance service, testing and inspection processes within remit are carried out correctly, remedial/follow on works are undertaken on a risk basis; that the service, testing and inspection process remains current and fit for purpose, and all records and certification are appropriately recorded. Keep up to date with changing legislation, standards and technology. Assist in the updating of specifications and documents.
    2.Implement and operate robust processes and procedures in order to ensure the legal obligations in regard to property compliance are managed and met; and to ensure all identified risks are mitigated in the most efficient manner, making best use of available resources to keep all residents safe.
    3.Work in collaboration with H&S Manager and the Building Safety Manager to ensure risks around health, safety and compliance are identified and risk mitigation strategies are developed and implemented to maintain property compliance and our regulatory obligations are met.

    MMP Consultancy is currently sourcing for Voids Surveyor for an interim contract with a Public-Sector organisation in Kent.

    Working within social housing to manage Voids duties including Minor and Major works. Holding high standards of quality, time and value for money.

    Title: Voids Surveyor
    Salary: £35 per hour - Inside IR35

    Duties:

    • Delivery of Voids service, being able to pre inspect properties and create specification of works which is fit for purpose for tenants.
    • Ensure contractor engagement and management in the delivery of works provided.
    • Post inspection of works complete to guarantee a good quality of service.
    • Document the process with auditable information.
    • Prioritise tenants with value for money and efficiency delivery of works.
    • Manage backlog of voids properties works cross short interim period.
    • Provide defect-free period of at least 6 months after works.

    Desirable Qualifications

    • HNC, HND, BTEC HND or higher, in a building discipline, or over 5 years hands on experience of related repairs surveying/ construction from a trade background.
    • Relative experience of building maintenance in a local authority or other registered social landlord.
