I am recruiting for a CHP Supervisor to join a well-recognised University based in central London.

Responsibilities:

* Supervise and direct a team of maintenance operatives (up to 20 trades based, semi-skilled and manual operatives).
* Plan, prioritise and allocate work to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective provision of reactive and planned maintenance services.
* Assist the M & E Response Manager / Critical Services Manager in the co-ordination and effective delivery of maintenance operations.
* Manage and supervise the operation of the district heating, CHPs (Combined Heat and Power) installations and the district and localised Steam systems
* Manage day to day staffing issues including performance, recruitment, discipline, appraisal, development etc. and any related problems; directly resolve day to day issues arising, exceptionally escalating to the M & E Response Manger / Critical Services Manager.
* Plan, prioritise and allocate work according to criticality to ensure the safe, efficient, and effective provision of reactive and planned maintenance services.
* Plan, prioritise and allocate work for completion by M & E Response Team / Shift and CHP Team to be carried out and completed on a regular basis in and outside of normal hours working hours. Liaise with all other Maintenance Operations Supervisors to manage work completion/progress and further planning.
* Plan, prioritise and supervise the day to day operation or the steam systems ensuring compliance and operation across the campus
* Plan, prioritise and supervise the operation of the district heating and all CHP installations across the campus
* Be responsible for the health and safety of their team, generating Risk Assessment & Method Statement (RAM) for specific works undertaken by the team as well and monitoring the Dynamic Risk Assessment App (DRA) used by the operatives. This also includes reviewing the RAM's for any contractors under their control.
* Manage and monitor team and individual performance; utilise Famis (or any replacement CAFM system) for purposes of effective work and labour management.
* Proactively review and assess workload trends, priorities, and events to ensure the most effective deployment of resources. Assess any conflicting priorities and plan work to mitigate operational and business risk.
* Support the sustainability and carbon policy by providing insights into operational changes to yield energy savings such as product/component changes or improved operating conditions.
* Work closely with our incumbent BMS Service provider to investigate and diagnose faults using BMS, drawings, manuals etc.; respond to breakdowns, faults, and service request calls; assist tradesmen in completing diagnostic and remedial work.

Qualifications and Skills:

* Experience working cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of personnel, and internal and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrable success in developing and managing relationships with support functions, stakeholders and third party suppliers.
* Demonstrated skills in researching, gathering, and preparing documents and presentations.
* An ability to think strategically and plan for the medium and long term as well as on a day-to-day basis.
* Experience of supervising/managing operational teams.
* Experience, understanding and ability to monitor plant status, interpret alarms etc.
* Good knowledge of first line response to reactive calls and experience of working with help desk system.
* Willingness and ability to work flexibly across a range of sites/buildings and adjust hours of work to provide optimal service to customers.
