Job Description

MMP Consultancy is seeking a Senior Development Management Officer on behalf of a local authority based in Northamptonshire. This is a temporary position for 3 months initially, subject to possible extension. The rate of pay is £35ph umbrella over a 37-hour working week. The role offers hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities:
* Processing planning applications and pre-application advice requests in line with national and local targets.
* Managing the approval of planning conditions and defending planning appeals.
* Maintaining high standards of quality in the built environment and ensuring customer satisfaction with the Development Management process.
* Mentoring team members and deputising for the Principal Development Management Officer when required.
* Handling significant planning applications, including site inspections, consultations, research, and preparing recommendations based on Council policies.
* Preparing and presenting reports to the Development Control Committee.
* Negotiating with developers to improve development proposals and secure financial contributions for infrastructure.
* Liaising with various stakeholders to ensure all aspects of proposed developments are thoroughly considered.
* Preparing statements for planning appeals and representing the Council as an expert planning witness at hearings and inquiries.
* Assisting in handling complaints and supporting investigations by the Local Government Ombudsman when necessary.
* Managing general and specific correspondence in line with performance targets.

Requirements:
* Proven experience in planning, particularly in handling significant or complex applications.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to represent the Council effectively in public and in hearings.
* A good understanding of planning legislation and policies.
* Experience mentoring team members and the ability to deputise in leadership roles when needed.

    MMP Consultancy is seeking a Property Surveyor - Complex Cases to join a Housing Association based in Northamptonshire. This is a permanent role paying between £45,967 - £50,452 per annum to start as soon as possible.

    In this role, the successful candidate will play a vital part in managing and overseeing complex property works, ensuring compliance with housing legislation and providing expert advice on property conditions.

    They will conduct detailed property inspections, prepare comprehensive reports, and work closely with contractors, tenants, and legal teams to resolve issues efficiently.

    As a Property Surveyor, your key responsibilities will include:

    • Conducting thorough property inspections to identify disrepair, damp, mould, structural defects, and other maintenance issues.
    • Preparing accurate and detailed reports with recommendations for remedial actions.
    • Liaising with tenants, landlords, and legal teams to address complaints and resolve disputes.

    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
    • Ability to work independently and make decisions on-site
