Job Description

MMP Consultancy currently have an opportunity for a Technical Officer to join a Local Authority based out of Stoke-On-Trent

This will be a temporary position paying £30 P/H Umbrella on a 6-9 Month Contract

The Role:

  • To contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants and any other financial assistance offered by the Council.

  • To provide advice and support to older or disabled people and other vulnerable individuals who wish to repair, adapt or improve their homes.

  • Provide an appropriate service for the benefit of customers and colleagues from the referral stage through to completion of works.

Job Purpose:

  • To visit clients in their own homes, providing the required level of advice and information, maintaining regular contact with them at each stage of the case.

  • Ensure that the client understands and is kept informed of all procedures and practices involved with their particular circumstances.

  • Book appointments to visit applicants in their own homes to complete all DFG application forms, and financial means test forms and collect confidential and sensitive personal financial and health data from applicants and keep this secure at all times. Examine and interrogate financial data and where necessary challenge information in order to prevent fraudulent grant applications being made. Use software packages to conduct means testing for DFG applicants.

  • Participate in on-site scheme feasibility studies to ascertain how best to adapt a property to meet an applicant's needs; this will require problem solving skills in order to offering constructive suggestions regarding problems encountered.

  • Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively on the telephone and in person with disabled applicants, their parents, partners, relatives or other nominated representatives, Occupational Therapists, Contractors, Utility providers, surveyors, engineers, solicitors, and any other relevant persons or professional body in connection with DFGs.

  • Process invoices for payment and raise fee requests, raise invoices for the service, maintain and update software systems for monitoring disabled facilities grants.
  • Identify other areas of help which may be needed by, or available to, the client such as alternative accommodation, or home care and ensure that necessary services are applied for on behalf of the client.

  • Ensure all stages of work are monitored, including supervision of work on site and satisfactory completion.

  • Seek out estimates for work evaluating these and ensure proper contractual agreements are made between the client and the contractor.

  • Process and check grant applications to ensure they are full and complete and recommend applications for approval.

  • To work collaboratively with registered providers and private landlords relating to agreeing and progressing schemes in their properties.

  • Maintain good ICT skills in order to accurately update and maintain databases and systems.

    The role is interim. With a potential option of permanent.

    Key Duties:

    * Hit weekly and monthly targets regarding equity loan &/or staircasing completions.
    * Handle customer inquiries (by telephone, email, post) in a professional and supportive manner, displaying product knowledge.
    * Read and interpret leases/equity mortgages and give effective advice to customers and other key internal and external stakeholders regarding all Staircasing/Equity Loans activities.
    * Log all customer contacts, maintaining accurate records using the appropriate database and case management systems.
    * Collate audit compliant application packs, carry out relevant checks on shared owners if cash sums are to be used, and follow anti-money laundering procedures.
    * Carry out relevant checks and effectively manage all staircasing/equity loans caseloads and help to achieve or exceed the staircasing/equity loans targets.
    * Ensure that all activities are progressed in accordance with staircasing/equity loans policies and procedures and money laundering regulations.

    * Prepare weekly reports on own staircasing/equity loans activities and progressions, ensuring performance standards are met and progress is charted, and procedures are complied with.
    * Develop and keep up to date with technical product knowledge and relevant legislation.

    MMP Consultancy seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor for an interim contract with a North London-based National Contractor for Housing Asset Management / Maintenance. Day Rate Negotiable (Inside IR35)

    The role is interim, taking over for a member of staff who is leaving, with a potential option of permanent.

    Details:

    Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor (Projects)

    The works cover planned maintenance which encompasses such aspects as replacement
    windows and doors, external/internal decorations, scaffolding, roofing, etc.

    Work alongside the current quantity surveyor who is leaving to get a full handover.
